Staff

MCSV Program Managers oversee the recruitment, screening, training and placement of volunteer tutors. They  act as liaisons to our multiple school sites and collaborate with MCSV onsite coordinators  to ensure appropriate volunteer placement. All staff also participates in screening and training for our dedicated volunteers.

Pam oversees Program Managers and general MCSV operations , collaborates with community partners and schools and does outreach, grant writing and fundraising.

Melissa Marvan
Office and Database Manager

Melissa manages our office, and  oversees data collection and all database management.  She also serves as a tutor for MCSV, teaches math workshops for our volunteers and has a private business tutoring math to high school students.


Mariana Lopez
Program Manager

Mariana is Program Manager for  most of the San Rafael City Schools.  As Program Manager, she oversees new volunteer intakes, orientations, screening and placement of volunteers. Mariana also works with the school site Volunteer Coordinators to assess teacher requests, school needs and the status of current volunteers. Mariana is bilingual and bicultural; she provides our "Cultural Proficiency' training for volunteers.

Alicia Hovey

Alicia is Program Manager for Novato Unified School District (all Elementary and Middle Schools).  In her role, she oversees intakes, orientations, screening and placement of volunteers in both schools and after school programs in Novato. Alicia also creates the month MCSV newsletter.

Doug Brown

Doug is Volunteer Coordinator  for public High Schools in Marin County..   He oversees  screening and placement of volunteers in  schools , with particular focus on AVID classrooms, after school tutoring  and special programs that support college access and academic success. 

Ami Gerstein

Ami Gerstein is Program Manager for Marin City/Sausalito Schools, Larkspur/Corte Madera, Reed Union Schools, some Dixie Schools as well as Davidson Middle School in San Rafael.  As Program Manager, she oversees new volunteer intakes, orientations, screening and placement of volunteers at these sites. Ami also works with the school site Volunteer Coordinators to assess teacher requests, school needs and the status of current volunteers. Ami is a Licensed School Psychologist and Special Education teacher. 

Monica Golden

Monica Golden is Program Manager and Volunteer Coordinator for Vallecito Elementary School, Venetia Valley K-8 School, Ross Valley Schools and San Pedro Elementary School. As Program Manager, she over sees intakes, provides orientation, screens and places incoming volunteers at these sites.  As Volunteer coordinator, she assesses teacher requests, determines the needs of the schools and volunteers, and oversees volunteer placements and satisfaction, ensuring a good fit for all.
