10,000 Degrees Academic Support (formerly Marin County School Volunteers) matches volunteer tutors with public school students in classrooms and homework centers. We provide volunteer orientations and trainings to assist new volunteers, as well as on-going workshops for experienced volunteers.
Established in 1997, Marin County School Volunteers began with 40 volunteers in five schools. We now have over 300 adult volunteers in targeted schools, homework centers and community programs. In July, 2017, we merged with 10,000 Degrees. Our goal is to provide support for our highest need students in Marin; those who are socio-economically disadvantaged, English Language Learners and in classrooms that do not have the luxury of adequate parent volunteers.
Please join the many community volunteers who contribute their time and skills to the students of Marin County. Our Program Managers will help you find a rewarding experience, while making a real difference in a child's life.
"The simple act of sharing time and skills with young people who need extra help has monumental consequences for the future of these students. Do you want to change a life? Read with a child, volunteer to be a tutor. Your effort can save two lives, the student's and yours."
Mary Jane Burke - Marin County Superintendent of Schools
